WORKSHOPS
2022 – OPEN SOURCE BODY, CITE INTERNATIONALE DES ARTS, SEPT 28
Workshop « Ultrasound and ultrasound phantoms »
Jérôme Dubois (echOpen / Future Baby Production) and Ewen Chardronnet proposed a workshop around medical imaging by ultrasound and ultrasound phantoms. He will present the principle of echo-stoscopy and the echOpen open source project developed at the Hôtel Dieu and will invite to test materials (agar agar, gelatin, latex, etc.) in order to evaluate their echogenic response to ultrasound. In ultrasound, the term echogenic refers to a medium which, depending on its acoustic impedance, reflects ultrasound more or less.
2020-2022 – UNBORN0x9 part of ART4MED: Art Meets Health and Biomedical Research
ART4MED was a 2 years project (2021-2022) co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union. 5 partners – ART2M (Fr), Bioart Society (Fi), Kersnikova Institute (Si), Waag FutureLab (Nl), Laboratory for Aesthetics and Ecology (Dk) – united around their common interest to experiment and disseminate collaborations between hands-on medical humanities and investigative art methodologies. In 2021 and 2022, the consortium proposed residencies, symposiums, talks, co-creative methodology workshops, online collaborations, hands-on sessions, exhibitions, and a final publication and Open Source Body festival in Paris.
UNBORN0x9 was one of the 5 projects in long-term residencies:
2020 – ART::LABO, HUMAN TECH DAYS, ANTRE-PEAUX, BOURGES, FEB 01
Workshop at Rencontres Art::LAbo, Arts et Sciences Friction.

2018 – OPEN SOURCE BODY FESTIVAL, LA PAILLASSE, PARIS, JAN22-25
« The Unborn0x9 workshop calls for bio-hackers, social actors and political agitators to listen in and act on a sonicscape derived from converted ultrasonic frequencies. This is a development phase for the creation of a hacking performance led by artist Shu Lea Cheang. Project produced by the medialab Makery in collaboration with the Labomedia (Orleans) and the fablab Echopen of the Hôtel-Dieu in Paris. EchOpen is an open and collaborative project and community, led by a multidisciplinary core of experts and senior professionals with the aim of designing a functional low-cost (affordable) and open source echo-stethoscope (ultrasound probe) connected to a smartphone, allowing the radical transformation of diagnostic orientation in hospitals, general medicine and medically underserved areas. This initiative was conceived for health professionals in both the Global North and South. »

2021 – OPEN SOURCE BODY, CITE INTERNATIONALE DES ARTS, PARIS, MAY 20
« Art, Open Health and Radical Care
How can we foster relationships between art practices and health and biomedical research? How can art raise issues of equity in access to healthcare? What kind of vocabulary and methodologies can we use to engage and encourage interdisciplinary collaborations that might actively contribute to supporting vulnerable or sick people, or those who are victims of discriminatory access to healthcare services? And how can we respond to urgent issues such as the exclusion of marginalized groups from healthcare services, global migrations, the collapse of environmental health and the need for radical care in these pandemic times?
Open Source Body is a transdisciplinary festival held every two years by the Makery.info medialab to create opportunities for encounters and collaborations between artists and professionals in the fields of healthcare and biomedical research. In 2021, Open Source Body has partnered with the Cité Internationale des Arts and Volumes Lab / Oasis 21 in Paris to host three days of talks, discussions, workshops and performances. Open Source Body is co-funded by the CNC-Dicréam, the Creative Europe program of the European Union & ProHelvetia, Fondation suisse pour la culture. »

2017 – MAKERYMEDIALAB #2, GAITE LYRIQUE, PARIS, NOV 15
